Qijiaoshan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Northeast Hubei border to Henan. The Qijiaoshan Fm was named by the Party of Regional Geological Survey, Hubei Bureau of Geology in 1975 in Qijiao Mt., Hong'an County, Hubei Province. The reference section is in Dengjiawan, Huanpi County, Hubei Province. It is upper-middle formation (3/4) within the Hong'an Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
The Qijiaoshan Fm is subdivided into three parts. Lower part is dominated by graphite schist, dolomitic quartz schist, schistoid quartzite and muscovite schist, intercalated with marble. Middle part consists of muscovite quartz schist, muscovite-albite gneiss and albite-hornblende schist. Upper part is composed of interbedded garnetiferous schist, graphite-garnet-albite-hornblende schist, garnet-hornblende epidote, garnet-hornblendite and quartz schist, with graphite schist and graphite-bearing schistose quartzite in the base. The thickness varies from 3713 to 4181 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact with the underlying Tiantaishan Fm.
Upper contact
The top is conformably overlain by the Ta'ergang Fm.
Regional extent
Northeast Hubei border to Henan. It is distributed in Hong'an, Dawu and Xiaogan counties, Hubei Province.
